Admissions Director

The Admissions Director collaborates with hospitals, community providers, and all referral sources to facilitate the admission of consumers to the facility, as well as aid in the transfer/discharge process when requested.

Position Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university or, at a minimum, a high school diploma and 5 years of experience in a mental health setting or related field
  • Be willing to travel as well as have a valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle
  • Have excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing assignments and time demands
  • Be able to utilize facility computer system and programs
  • Be highly dependable and punctual
Some Responsibilities include:
Referral and Assessment
  • Develop and maintain relationships with referral sources, including hospitals, residential facilities, community agencies, mental health consumer and advocacy groups
  • Communicate regularly with referral sources to identify potential referrals and inform of placement availability
  • Review referral packets and information
  • Conduct face-to-face (or telephone when necessary) assessment of all potential admissions
  • Ensure all regulatory requirements are met regarding diagnosis and Pre-Admission Screening
  • Keep referral sources apprised of the status of the admission decision
Admission and Discharge/Administrative
  • Gather copies of the referral packet and distribute to appropriate personnel, ensuring relevant portions are filed in the chart
  • Notify all departments of the pending admission. Provide details related to name, room assignment, diagnosis, staff needs, brief history, and any pertinent risk factors
  • Provide the “Welcome” document and review with consumer/guardian
  • Respond to consumer concerns and questions and assist them in obtaining additional information as needed
  • Assist with Medicaid/Social Security application
